PORT CHARLES Star David Gail Dead at 58

Actor David Gail has died at the age of 58. His sister, Katie Colmenares, shared a photo of herself embracing her brother on Instagram on Jan. 20 and wrote: “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side, always my wingman, always my best friend, ready to face anything and anyone with me. The bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart, you gorgeous, loving, amazing, fierce human being. Missing you every second of every day forever. There will never be another.”

Gail will be best remembered by daytime fans as the second actor to play Joe Scanlon on GENERAL HOSPITAL spinoff PORT CHARLES. He took over the role from Michael Deitz in 1999 and remained with the soap until 2000, at which point the character was recast again with Alex Mendoza.

Viewers will also recognize Gail from his numerous primetime roles, including playing Brenda’s fiancé Stuart Carson on BEVERLY HILLS, 90210, as well as starring as Eddie Bartlett on ROBIN’S HOODS and Dean Collins on primetime sudser SAVANNAH. The actor also made guest appearances in series like MURDER, SHE WROTE, MATLOCK, ER, and JAG.
