Victoria and Cole on Y&R — Their Entire Dramatic History!
It looks like Cole and Victoria are rekindling some old feelings for each other on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. Of course, these two weren’t always happily in love. Their relationship was quite the roller coaster! Join us for a stroll down Memory Lane as we recall some of the pitfalls the pair might want to avoid this time around!
After Ryan McNeil left her for Nina Webster, Victoria Newman set her sights on the handsome stable boy, Cole Howard. When she made a move, he turned her down and actually began an affair with her mother, Nikki Newman! Upset, Victoria ran away to New York City and found herself posing for a nude centerfold, and when Cole found out, he tried to prevent the pictures from seeing the light of day.
When Cole fell for Victoria, he wrote to his mother, Eve Howard, about it. Having had an affair years ago with Victor Newman, Eve believed Cole to be his son, which would make Victoria his half-sister! She rushed to Genoa City to stop their wedding but suffered a stroke that landed her in a coma and she later died. Cole and Victoria eloped to Las Vegas, and when they came home, Victor was horrified they’d wed and revealed Cole was his son. The newlyweds quickly annulled their marriage, but Victor soon found evidence that he might not actually be Cole’s father.
Victoria left town again when Nikki went after Cole again, not realizing he’d turned her mother down. Once Cole had proof he wasn’t Victor’s son, he tracked Victoria down and brought her home where they remarried. Unfortunately, those nude pictures were then printed and Victor had all the copies destroyed and bought the company to fire the publisher. Victoria and Cole settled down living in the Newman Ranch tack house. Aside from a brief hiccup where Victoria got jealous of Cole’s publisher, Jeri, making moves on him, they were relatively happy.
That is until Nina fell in love with Cole while helping him with research. Meanwhile, Victoria wondered what it would have been like to be with Ryan and began making advances at him. Cole and Victoria agreed to give their marriage another chance, but she continued running away from her problems… literally. Cole began spending time with Ashley Abbott, writing a new novel based on her, and complaining about his wife’s constant absences. After Victoria returned home from another trip to find Cole kissing Ashley, she moved back home. Cole proposed to Ashley, who accepted, but then Victoria discovered she was pregnant and despite Neil Winters claiming paternity, Cole suspected the child was his.
After Victoria finally confessed the truth, Cole promised to be there for his baby, but still intended to marry Ashley. When Victoria had to deliver prematurely, she told Cole she wanted to name her Eve, after his mother. Tragically, the infant died and her parents were heartbroken. Although Victoria had accepted Neil’s proposal, she moved back home and they eventually broke off their engagement. Cole went on to marry Ashley, and Victoria tried to split them up. But it was Ashley’s insistence on having a baby that led to Cole breaking things off and moving to Oxford to become a professor.
Years later, in November 2023, Cole and Victoria were thrown back together by Eve’s psychotic sister, Jordan Howard, who wanted revenge on the Newman family for what they did to her sibling. Jordan’s niece, Claire Grace, was then revealed to be Eve Howard, the baby they thought had died but Jordan had actually stolen from the hospital. As they went through the process of proving that Claire was really their daughter, Eve, Victoria and Cole found themselves growing closer again. But can they make a relationship work this time?
