Y&R Alum Tammin Sursok Reveals Her COVID Diagnosis

Tags:

After managing to avoid getting sick from the highly-contagious coronavirus for two years, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS alum Tammin Sursok (ex-Colleen) revealed on social media that she and one of her daughters have fallen ill. On Instagram, Sursok posted two photos — one of her looking absolutely miserable and on the verge of tears while in bed, and a second of her positive at-home test — and wrote, “Someone brought something home from school yesterday. After two years of not getting COVID, I finally got it.”

Sursok — who is currently living in Australia with her husband Sean McEwen, and daughters Phoenix, 8, and Lennon, 3 — went on to explain that shortly after her firstborn got sick, she too tested positive. “I can’t believe how fast it moves from one person to another,” the actress marveled. “Symptoms so far are scratchy throat, running nose, slight spicy cough, and a slight headache and fatigue and sweats at night.”

In her Instagram Stories, Sursok further explained that when Phoenix had a runny nose about five days ago, they tested her for COVID, “vigilant about not spreading” it to others. Sursok tested negative that night but retested the next morning when she had a runny nose. The two have been isolated from the rest of their family ever since, and while Phoenix has seemingly recovered, Sursok is still feeling symptoms that come and go in waves. “Fevers have stopped. I just feel heavy if that makes sense,” she said in her Stories, replying to questions from followers. “Chest heavy, brain off, dizzy when I stand.”

The actress also revealed in her Stories that she is “triple” vaccinated — she’s had two doses of the initial vaccine and a booster — and was grateful for the immunity it gave her. Especially after her husband had an extreme case of COVID just over a year ago that took him months to recover. “For me, if there is a level of protection from the vax, I’m glad I got it because I wouldn’t want it worse than this,” she wrote to a follower who asked if she was vaccinated. “I also experienced my hubby getting COVID at the start of the pandemic and it was a lot worse.”

Y&R fans remember Sursok for her 2007-’09 run as Brad and Traci’s daughter, Colleen Carlton, but the South African-born actress grew up in Sydney, Australia, and got her big break playing Dani on the Aussie soap HOME AND AWAY. Sursok and her family were finally able to reunite with her parents in Australia back in December and were scheduled to return to the United States very soon — but those plans have now been put on hold. “I’ll need a negative test first.”

Thankfully, Phoenix is no longer testing positive, so hopefully, Sursok will be on the mend soon as well. “Phoenix is totally fine and wanting to get out of our new isolation,” she wrote in her Instagram post, adding that she was hoping Sean and Lennon wouldn’t get sick. “They are the ones I’m worried about. Please keep them in your thoughts. Here is to health and well-being, ASAP!”

Please join us in wishing Sursok a speedy recovery!
