Chad Brannon Returns to GENERAL HOSPITAL!

A very familiar face will be seen in Port Charles as Chad Brannon returns to GENERAL HOSPITAL! The actor is scheduled to begin filming at the soap’s studio beginning on Friday, Feb. 12, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Brannon played the troubled Zander Smith from 2000 until his exit in 2004, earning two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor during his run, taking home the trophy in 2004. Although GH will have to get creative if it plans to bring Zander back to the canvas, as he was shot dead by police during a tense standoff! (Not that death has ever proven particularly permanent in any soap opera!)

In December 2009, Brannon made a cameo appearance in an episode of GH playing a character named Aaron who was seen on an airplane boarded by Rebecca Shaw, played by Natalia Livingston. This was a bit of fan service for the viewers, as Brannon and Livingston were a popular couple while playing their previous characters of Zander and Emily. Though it would make way more sense for the soap to bring back Zander, as he is the biological father of Liz’s son, Cameron.

Since leaving GH, Brannon has made appearances in films like The Bling Ring and The Tragedy of JFK (as Told by Wm. Shakespeare) as well as television shows such as CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and BOSCH. The actor has also done voice work for the animated series THE CLEVELAND SHOW and AMERICAN DAD!.

If Brannon is supposed to begin filming in the middle of February, look for whoever he’s playing to appear on screen sometime in the middle of March. Whether that’s Zander back from the dead, his look-alike Aaron, or someone completely different, you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out!
