Frank Valentini Previews What to Expect From All-New Episodes of GENERAL HOSPITAL

With GENERAL HOSPITAL returning on Monday, Aug. 3 with brand-new episodes, the soap’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, teased what fans can expect to see coming up in Port Charles! “The very first seconds of the show will blow a lot of the audiences’ mind because there’s a big surprise that we inserted” he revealed during a remote interview with ABC entertainment reporter George Pennacchio, who fans might remember from his red carpet appearances at the GH Nurses Balls.

Ever since GH ran out of episodes in April right in the middle of Wiley’s custody hearing, fans have been champing at the bit to find out if Nelle or Michael would come out on top. When the drama resumes, Valentini promised, “It’s coming up and there is a bang and a surprise and a twist and it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

But the executive producer knows just how eager fans are to see new episodes again and promises they’ll be worth the wait. “It’s the longest weekend in the history of GH, these four months,” Valentini admitted. “A lot of the fans were like, ‘When are you coming back? When are you coming back?’ It took that long to establish the protocols and think through every step of the production process.”

Before being allowed to work, everyone in the cast and crew undergoes COVID-19 tests to ensure that they are negative and masks are required to be worn except when an actor is actually on set filming scenes. “We have two COVID advisors on the set,” Valentini reported, “making sure we don’t do anything that would jeopardize anyone’s health.”

Pennacchio, naturally, was also curious about the fate of the annual Nurses Ball, which normally would have already aired. “Even though it’s four months later than it was supposed to be, we’re still doing it,” Valentini declared. “And it’s going to be spectacular. There are some real fun surprises in the Nurses Ball, too.”

So stay tuned to see what happens next!
