Mark your calendars because Jan. 13 has been declared Tabyana Ali Day! The actress, who took over the role of Trina on GENERAL HOSPITAL back in March 2022 was honored by her hometown of San Antonio, TX, for her accomplishments. In addition to starring on the ABC soap, Ali is also a published author, penning the children’s books My Flower Child and My Super B.

“I just can’t believe that this is my life,” Ali told News 4 San Antonio. “I’m really living that dream.”

Ali was born in San Antonio and went to school at Hidden Forest Elementary and Trinity Christian Academy before heading off to California with her mother to pursue a career in show business. In January, the actress returned home for an author’s summit held by the MLK Junior Foundation and received a proclamation declaring Jan. 13 “Tabyana Ali Day” or “Love Without Walls Day.”

“I grew up there,” Ali told the outlet of San Antonio. “That’s my home. My family’s still there. My grandmother. My siblings. I love Texas.” And one of the many things she likes to do when she goes home to Texas is enjoy the local cuisine! “I love to eat,” she laughed. “So, I’m going to Stone Werks, I’m going to any barbecue place, I’m going to La Hacienda. Getting some good enchiladas. Taco Cabana. You know, stuff like that.”

While Ali clearly misses her hometown, GH fans are certainly glad she moved to Los Angeles because otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to enjoy her performances as Trina Robinson. And while the actress has plans to continue pursuing her writing as well as other roles, hopefully we’ll get to enjoy her in Port Charles for a good long while!
