Jay and Joey Clay’s Mom Is in the Hospital
Two of GENERAL HOSPITAL’s littlest cast members are asking for prayers for their family: Jay and Joey Clay — the fraternal twins who share the role of Ace — shared on their parent-run Instagram account that their mother, Lana, is in the hospital.
While the twins’ mom usually posts updates about her adorable sons on The Clay Bros account, it was dad Mark who reached out to the boys’ followers on Feb. 17 with an update about Lana. “I wanted to share that Lana was admitted yesterday to the ICU with sepsis and critically low blood pressure,” he wrote. “She is awake, but very sick. Lana’s strength and transparency have always inspired us, and we’re rallying around her during this challenge that she will beat!”
Earlier this month, Lana shared on social media that she was dealing with some health issues. A childhood leukemia survivor, Lana revealed that she was having issues with her port, and a benign mass was discovered during a routine mammogram. Her body’s hypertrophic scarring condition (which leads to thick, raised scars) complicated her healing from a cyst infection, and she later underwent surgery to address a ruptured abscess, hoping to avoid sepsis. It’s not clear if the sepsis and low blood pressure were related to Lana’s recent procedure — but in an updated post, she shared that she was thankfully doing a bit better!
Sharing a selfie from her hospital bed, Lana revealed that she had been moved out of the intensive care unit. “I just wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for all the love and support pouring in,” she wrote, adding, “Mark has been incredibly helpful in managing everything on my behalf.”
While her blood pressure was “showing improvement” and she was no longer on the ICU floor, Lana has a long journey of recovery ahead. “I’m facing two significant challenges at the moment and although I’m not ready to discuss them yet, your understanding means the world to me,” she confessed. “Right now, I’m feeling quite tired and weak, undergoing numerous blood tests and taking plenty of medication.”
Despite her situation, Lana seemed to be in good spirits. “I’m determined to keep fighting on,” she declared. “I’ve been uniquely faced with many challenges in my life, and I intend to persevere again.”
Understandably, Lana is also looking forward to regaining enough strength to be released from the hospital. “I can’t wait to be back home with Joey, Jay, and my beloved bulldogs,” she confessed before closing out her post by thanking her family’s GH fans, friends, and neighbors for their prayers. “Your support gives me strength, and I miss you all dearly.”
