John J. York Announces He’s Taking a “Brief Hiatus” from GENERAL HOSPITAL

Tags:

Poor Mac still doesn’t know that he’s Cody’s father on GENERAL HOSPITAL, and it looks like he might remain in the dark for a bit longer because portrayer John J. York has announced that he will be taking some time off from the soap.

“Hey kiddos,” the actor posted to X, “just wanted to let you know that I will be taking a brief hiatus from the show in a few weeks. I’m in the process of getting some important information. So hang tight, and I’ll be in touch.”

Fans quickly wished him the best and hoped that the “important information” he was waiting on was good news. He did end his post with a grinning face emoji, so that helped reassure some.

The day before posting about his hiatus from GH, York also warned fans about a fraudulent social media account pretending to be him. “Hi, followers and friends,” he wrote. “Just a quick note to let you know that I was recently made aware of posts on Facebook using my name. They are not me. I’m only here. Thanks!”

York, who got his big break starring in the FOX supernatural series WEREWOLF in 1987, made his daytime debut in 1991 when he joined the cast of GH as Mac Scorpio. He has been playing the character ever since, even crossing over to sister soap ALL MY CHILDREN and appearing on the GH primetime spinoff, NIGHT SHIFT.
