Should Brenda Come Back to GH? — Maurice Benard Speaks Out

Tags:

Between his dad’s illness, his own Mob responsibilities, newborn Donna, sniping with Jax, and everything else going on, Sonny has his hands full on GENERAL HOSPITAL. But at a fan event, Maurice Benard confessed that he’d love to see Jax and Sonny’s mutual ex, Brenda, get in on the Port Charles action as well by bringing portrayer Vanessa Marcil back to the soap!

“If I [had my say], she would have been back about five years ago,” the Emmy winner said of Marcil. “She brings ratings, and if you put two and two together, that’s four. So, if you bring her back, it’s a no-brainer.”

Rest assured, CarSon fans, Benard wasn’t picking Brenda over Sonny’s current wife, Carly, but rather looking to tap into the years spent locked in the infamous love quadrangle. “You [brought] back Jax, then you got Brenda, and you got a whole cool thing going on,” the actor pointed out.

Marcil — who relaunched her LOVESTOP podcast with her teenage son, Kassius, as her co-host — last visited GH in 2015. But she still banters with the soap’s fans about Sonny, Carly, and Jax on social media, and often retweets and responds to videos her followers post from her run as Brenda.

“I’ll open my Instagram or Twitter, and the love is just crazy,” Marcil told Soaps In Depth a while back. “It’s unfathomable that [fans] would think about me or be as attached to a character that I played about six years total when [others] on GH have been playing their characters for 25 or more years. It’s an honor.”
