Proud Mom Lisa LoCicero Shows Off Her Daughter Starring in Cats!
Looks like talent runs in the family! Soap fans have enjoyed watching Lisa LoCicero as Jocelyn on LOVING and THE CITY and Sonia on ONE LIFE TO LIVE as well as her currently starring as Olivia on GENERAL HOSPITAL. And now the proud mother is showing off the musical theater skills of her eight-year-old daughter, Verity, who recently starred in her school’s production of Cats as Mr. Mistoffelees!
“Caution: If you do not like eight-year-olds performing the musical Cats, this post is not for you,” LoCicero warned fans when she shared a clip of the show on Instagram. “But please believe me when I tell you that it has become possibly the meaning of life for me (is how much I enjoyed it).
“I could have watched it 100 times,” she continued, “and I definitely never want to see it performed by anyone who is not eight (or under) ever again. I did not exactly catch the splits at the end. Took me by surprise. Loved the other cat helping her up!”
One of the longest-running shows in Broadway history, Cats opened in London’s West End back in 1981 (with Finola Hughes (Anna) starring as Victoria!) and debuted the following year on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theater. Despite mixed reviews, Cats earned multiple awards including the Tony for Best Musical, and ultimately became a smash success. The 2019 feature film adaptation was a box office bomb, but perhaps that’s because the titular cats were being played by adults and not eight-year-olds!
Because as you can see from LoCicero’s video, the show is absolutely adorable when performed by children! Verity has a great voice and some awesome dance moves (loved the split at the end!). She should have quite the show-biz career ahead of her, just like her mom. Hey, maybe LoCicero can convince GH executive producer Frank Valentini to hire Verity to perform at the next Nurses Ball! Heck, invite all the kids to do this exact number!
