GENERAL HOSPITAL Alum Robert Palmer Watkins Signs a Record Deal!

Tags:

Congratulations to GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Robert Palmer Watkins (ex-Dillon), who has just signed a new record deal with producer Brendan Martin (a.k.a. B Martin) and his label Purpose Driven Artists! “I’m super excited to be signing with him and Purpose Driven Artists and feel so confident about these fire songs we’ve developed,” the performer said in a statement.

GH fans who enjoyed watching Watkins as Dillon Quartermaine during his 2015-17 run on the soap already know about his musical talents as he was always a big hit performing at the annual Nurses Ball. His first single is scheduled to be released on Friday, May 28, on all digital platforms although for his music career, he’ll be going by the nom de plume “Palmer.”

“This first track, ‘Waiting,’ was written about a past relationship of mine,” Watkins explained. “She lived in Atlanta, I was in L.A., and both being in the industry, we were always waiting on each others’ calls. There’s so much truth living inside this record that I feel like anybody can relate to it.”

Martin is also excited for fans to hear the music that he and Palmer have created. “When I met Rob, I knew he had star power, but when I heard him sing over an acoustic guitar, I knew he had recording artist star power,” the producer declared. “We wrote one song on a drive back from San Diego, and things clicked. After doing a few more, we decided to take it to the next level and do a full eight-song and eight-video project. We pitched it to executive producer Leah Sturgis, and we are now ready to release our first single in May.”

You can get a taste of the tunes to come via Watkins’ Instagram post above, and keep checking back at SoapsInDepth.com for updates as the first single drops… and later, the full album!
