Tabyana Ali Opens up About Sprina’s First Time on GH

“Sprina” fans were thrilled when Trina and Spencer finally made love on GENERAL HOSPITAL in the Sept. 29 episode. And Tabyana Ali (Trina) was thrilled for the couple’s fans who had been waiting a long time for this special moment.

“It’s finally, like, the really lovey-dovey, gushy-wushy stuff that they’ve been wanting,” Ali declared in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest. “It’s beautiful. I think it was great writing, beautiful writing, and I’m happy with how everything was written.”

The actress was also pleased with how the intimate scene was handled on set. “Because this is my first love scene,” she admitted. “I wasn’t necessarily nervous; I was more curious about what it was going to be like, having never done one before. I talked to Mr. Frank [Valentini, GH’s executive producer] and our director, Allison, and our intimacy coordinator. I made sure I had conversations with those three to get an idea of what everything was going to be like and would look like and what their ideas were, and I tried to give my two cents, as well.”

Of course, she was also grateful for the consideration of her co-star, Nicholas Chavez (Spencer). “He made sure that I was comfortable,” Ali confided. “He would ask me, ‘What are the places you are okay being touched? What should I not touch? Is it okay if I do this or that?’ He was very respectful, which I definitely appreciated, and I tried to do the same thing with him.”

And when it came time to actually shoot the pivotal scene, Ali said her nerves quickly faded. “As we got to set that day, I felt very vulnerable,” she confessed. “I was like, ‘Okay, I’m gonna be exposed here. I’ve never had this many people look at me like this, in this way.’ But I was excited as it went on. I started to feel really cute and I actually felt really pretty and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ It was actually kind of fun, you know? It was cool.”
