The End of Valentin and Anna on GH? – James Patrick Stuart Speaks Out!

Anna may have been the one who pulled the trigger and shot Charlotte on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but a lot of fans immediately blamed Valentin! If he hadn’t kept Anna in the dark about Charlotte stalking her, the whole tragedy could have been avoided. 

“Yes, of course it’s his fault,” James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “He should have given her the benefit of the doubt and he should have been honest with her right out of the gate.”

But the actor understands completely where his alter ego was coming from. “I think he felt that he was protecting his daughter,” he explained. “He felt that he was trying to buy time, and by the time he started to doubt whether or not that was the smart thing to do, it was already too late, right? He’d already waited too long.

“He felt that there was a risk that he was going to lose Anna,” Stuart continued, “so it was much better to just stay the course, hopefully get Charlotte some help and brush this under the rug. And I think that people do tend toward denial. Like I always say, ‘Denial ain’t just a psychological coping mechanism!’”

Unfortunately, when Valentin did finally tell Anna what he knew about Charlotte targeting her, it was too little, too late. And “Vanna” fans are worried there may be no coming back from this.

“Valentin and Anna had a nice little honeymoon, but people are going to have to remember that Valentin is a broken human being,” Stuart declared. “He cannot — he’s incapable of sustaining love. He did everything right for a while, but as soon as there was a hiccup in the road, he didn’t know how to handle it.”
