ONE LIFE TO LIVE Actress Lisa Banes Dead at 65

Tags:

Sadly, actress Lisa Banes has died at the age of 65 just over a week after being critically injured in a hit-and-run accident on June 4. She has numerous credits on her resume, but soap fans will remember her as Eve McBain on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

“We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing. She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives,” manager David Williams said in a statement published by NBC New York.

Banes was crossing Amsterdam Ave. in New York City on her way to her alma mater, the Julliard School, when she was struck by a motorized scooter. Rushed to the hospital with a traumatic brain injury, the actress was unable to recover and passed away on June 14. No arrests have been announced in the hit-and-run.

OLTL Eve McBain sings
Banes was able to show off her lovely voice playing a singer on OLTL.ABC

A Broadway star, Banes worked opposite Christine Baranski in Rumors, Anna Kendrick in High Society, David Hyde Pierce in Accent on Youth, and Victor Garber in Present Laughter. On TV, she had regular roles in THE TRIALS OF ROSIE O’NEILL and SON OF THE BEACH, and enjoyed recurring roles on shows like THE KING OF QUEENS, SIX FEET UNDER, and NASHVILLE.  On the big screen, Banes could be seen in films such as The Hotel New Hampshire, Cocktail, Dragonfly, and Gone Girl.

In 2004, Banes joined the cast of OLTL for a couple of months playing Eve McBain, mother to Michael Easton’s John McBain and the late Nathaniel Marston’s Michael McBain. She came to Llanview at Marcie’s invitation and reconnected with her family while enjoying a romance with Bo Buchanan and briefly being abducted by the Music Box Killer.

Our thoughts are with Banes’ friends and family during this difficult time.
