Who Is Dr. Montague on GENERAL HOSPITAL?
Sasha’s doctor on GENERAL HOSPITAL is a shady character, no doubt about it. And some viewers have been wondering who plays Dr. Montague on GH. Well, that’s where we come in — here’s everything you need to know about the character and his portrayer!
Dr. Damon Montague is played by Darin Toonder, who made his debut in the June 14 episode. The actor might be familiar to viewers from his appearances in television series like CREEPSHOW, ALL AMERICAN, OZARK, THE FIRST LADY, RUTHERFORD FALLS, SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW, and WILL TRENT. In addition to his current work on GH, Toonder’s most recent roles were playing the FBI Boss in the Hulu mini-series CLASS OF ’09 and Stan Harris in BET’s series AVERAGE JOE.
Gladys Corbin was stunned when she accompanied Sasha Gilmore to her appointment at General Hospital and immediately recognized her court-appointed psychiatrist, Dr. Damon Montague. The shrink also recognized Gladys from Selina Wu’s backroom poker games at The Savoy. He asked if he’d be seeing her there again soon, and she insisted she was trying to turn over a new leaf.
But when Dr. Montague encountered Gladys at the Metro Court pool, she admitted that was heavily in debt to Ms. Wu. While as Sasha’s guardian, she was in control of her finances and could use her money to gamble, she couldn’t take out such a large sum to pay off her debt without it looking suspicious. Damon offered to help settle Gladys’ debt but asked for a favor in return.
At Sasha’s next appointment, she opened up to Dr. Montague about the stress she’s currently under, and he offered her a prescription for a mild sedative to help with her anxiety. He assured her it was safe to take with her anti-depression pills, and promised to monitor her carefully. However, after Sasha left, Damon called Gladys to inform her that he did as they discussed and he offered her a chance to back out. But Gladys felt it was her only option and insisted they move forward with the plan.
Later, after celebrating their wins at The Savoy, Gladys expressed some concern about the medication hurting Sasha, but Dr. Montague assured her it’s not dangerous, but the interaction with her anti-depressant will throw her off kilter and cause her to continue needing Gladys as her guardian.
