GH Alum Sydney Mikayla’s TV Series Renewed for Season Two!

Tags:

Some great news for GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Sydney Mikayla (ex-Trina) — her series, TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK, has been renewed for a second season on Paramount+! And as a bonus, the big news was announced on her birthday, Feb. 1!

“Two years and one month ago today, I auditioned for a project called HOMETOWN HEROES,” Mikayla declared on Instagram back in November 2022. “Little did I know that this project was TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK, and it would change my life. “I’ve gotten to travel to so many places, star in an amazing show on Paramount+, get the privilege to work in the same Nickelodeon Animation recording studios that my favorite shows were also made in, and get to work alongside some of the most talented artists you’ve ever seen. This has been such a blessing, and I’m so grateful to take part!”

In TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK, Mikayla voices the lead character of Robby Malto, who, along with his sister, Mo, struggle with their family’s move to the rural town of Witwicky until they discover the first-ever earthborn Transformers. The animated series premiered in November 2022, and the next batch of episodes in the first season will drop on Friday, March 3. In addition to being available for streaming on Paramount+, the show will make its weekly debut on Nickelodeon on Friday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. ET.

“The highly anticipated series TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK premiered with a strong launch on Paramount+, ranking as one of the top five most-watched Kids & Family series,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming. “In partnership with Hasbro, eOne, and our studio partner Nickelodeon, we’re thrilled to continue telling the story of the Malto family and the new generation of Transformers robots.”

Mikayla made her daytime debut when she joined the cast of GH as the new Trina Robinson in February 2019. In 2022, fans were disappointed when she opted to leave the soap to focus on her college studies and the role was recast with Tabyana Ali. But even as she furthered her education at UCLA, Mikayla promised that “acting will always be a part of my life.”

While fans would obviously love to see Mikayla on screen again, they’ll just have to settle for hearing her voice. At least until she graduates from college and can focus on acting full-time again!
