Although GENERAL HOSPITAL fans don’t get to see Kimberly McCullough acting anymore, they still see her talent on screen… from behind the camera! After a successful acting career (including her run as Robin on GH), she turned to directing and her newest series is out now!
“NEON is now streaming on Netflix,” McCullough announced on Instagram. “Episodes five and seven directed by me! Honored to have worked with this incredible cast and stoked that I can now add Daddy Yankee to my directing reel!”
NEON is a comedy series that stars Tyler Dean Flores, Emma Ferreira, and Jordan Mendoza as a trio of friends who move to Miami to pursue a reggaeton career. AS THE WORLD TURNS alum Jordana Brewster (Nikki) plays Gina, a wealthy investor on the show. And Daddy Yankee is just one of the musicians who play themselves in episodes.
Sharing a gallery of behind-the-scenes pics she snapped while working on NEON, McCullough mused: “Looking at these photos, I’m reminded of how much I miss being on set collaborating with brilliant writers who make me laugh, watching a scene unfold on the monitors after all that prepping, celebrating with an actor when they feel good about a scene, the DP making my visual ideas better, shooting a TV show and looking around and seeing brown people in front of and behind the camera… NEON was a special experience.
“The industry went on strike shortly after we wrapped the series,” she continued, “and now to think of all these people on this cast and crew who I had a blast making something with have been out of work for so long makes it bittersweet. The actors are still on strike and therefore cannot promote this new series… You can support them by watching the show and telling your friends about it. In the meantime, I am standing in solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA union (a union I was a member of for over 35 years)! Now, watch this awesome show!”
