Fans were shocked when Rory was killed on GENERAL HOSPITAL just nine months after Michael Blake Kruse made his debut on the soap. But the actor enjoyed his time in Port Charles and expressed his gratitude to the fans for their support throughout the year.
“Many thanks to everyone who has sent me supportive messages in light of Rory Cabrera leaving the GH canvas,” Kruse said in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I enjoyed playing the character and valued his essence. Yes, he was unsophisticated and naive but at least he was genuine.
“In particular with Trina, he was always sincere and had her best interests at heart,” he continued. “That has to count for something, ‘Sprina’ fans.”
Many viewers immediately responded to the chemistry between Rory and Trina when Kruse first appeared as the rookie cop back in March 2022. But with Rory’s death, it looks like the “Sprina” fans will see Trina and Spencer together again.
At least Kruse managed to keep his sense of humor as his character was brutally hooked! “Rory was a mediocre cop, at best, but Port Charles isn’t the easiest town to police,” he joked. “He was also equipped with a holster from the ‘70s, no radio, and no bulletproof vest.”
Kruse’s stint in daytime may have been brief, but it’s clear fans will be able to follow him into primetime and movie theaters. Already, he’s appeared in CHICAGO P.D. and on the big screen in Wakanda Forever. Still, he’ll always remember his time on GH.
“Above all, I had the pleasure of working with some incredible people and have a newfound respect for everyone involved with daytime TV,” Kruse concluded. “It’s easy to critique but not easy to create. All of my love and appreciation to the fans who were supportive along the way.”
