Ryan Paevey Opens up About Returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

These days, former GENERAL HOSPITAL star Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan) is keeping pretty busy filming made-for-television movies under his multi-picture deal with Hallmark Channel. With the dozen or so movies the actor has made for the network since 2015, GH fans who miss seeing Paevey in Port Charles can often instead see his handsome face on the cable network. But will there ever come a day when Paevey returns to his soap opera roots?

Soaps In Depth posed that question to the actor not too long ago — and unfortunately for fans that are holding out hope for such a comeback, it doesn’t seem likely. “I would say the chances are unbelievably small,” Paevey confessed. “No discussion has been made since then. I think the canvas has long since moved on.”

Paevey made his GH debut on December 30, 2013, as Maxie’s new roommate, Detective Nathan West. Over the next few years, Nathan found true love with Maxie, reunited with his sister, Nina, got to know his birth mom, Liesl, and discovered that his father was actually criminal mastermind Cesar Faison and that Britt was also his sister before the character met a tragic end in February 2018 when Paevey decided to part ways with GH. But since characters are never really dead for good when it comes to soap operas, there’s always the possibility that Nathan might one day rise again. But so far, Paevey has not had any such discussions with the powers that be.

Tragically, Nathan was shot and killed by his own father before he could ever meet his and Maxie’s son, James.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone in the ranks of GH decision-making in [over] a year,” he admitted. “I’m still close friends with a couple of people that I worked with when I was there. But I have no intention of returning as of now. I guess there’s always, ‘Never say never’… you never know. Who knows where this road takes us. But it ain’t on the radar right now.”

Only time will tell if Paevey does have the opportunity to resurrect Nathan. In the meantime, the actor is continuing to devote his energy to his handmade silver jewelry business, Fortunate Wanderer, in between filming Hallmark’s signature brand of feel-good films. Up next for Paevey is A Fabled Holiday, premiering on December 3 as part of the network’s annual Countdown to Christmas programming event.
