Young actor Zakary Risinger made his debut as the new Danny Morgan on GENERAL HOSPITAL back in November, but he got his start in show business many years ago! “When I was two weeks old, my mom’s friend, who is an agent, asked my mom to go get me a work permit because she had a job for me,” he revealed to Star-Kidz. “I started out playing newborn babies just out of the womb.”
In the years that followed, Risinger racked up an impressive number of credits with appearances in primetime series like GREY’S ANATOMY, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, NCIS, and THEM. In the fall of 2021, he landed the job as the recast Danny on GH, though he admitted he was a little nervous his first day on set. “Mostly because my mom was with my brother on location on another show, and my dad was working on a show in Canada,” Risinger recalled. “My older brother took me and we weren’t sure what to expect. I had never gone to set with anyone except my mom or dad.”
Still, there was nothing to worry about! “My brother and I were made to feel so welcome,” he confided. “Everyone helped us, especially the amazing studio teacher, and it was an amazing day. I feel like the GH family is an actual family that looks out for each other.”
Risinger has been getting along great with the entire cast and crew, especially his TV mom, Kelly Monaco (Sam). “Kelly is nice to work with because she is super funny,” he said. “I know she has to play a bunch of dramatic scenes, but I find her sense of humor in between takes hilarious.” And naturally, there’s one actor on the soap he’s dying to work with someday. “I really hope I get to work with Maurice Benard (Sonny),” the rising star confessed. “I think he is an incredible actor, and Sonny is such a strong, iconic character. I would love to have the opportunity to learn from him.”
You’ll just have to keep watching GH to see what happens to Danny next and if Risinger gets his wish!
