Fans who are missing Summer and Kyle can look forward to seeing the couple again when Hunter King and Michael Mealor return to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS… although sadly, it’s just for a brief visit. “Well, well, well… look what we have here!” Mealor tweeted as the news broke. “This will be fun!”
After contract negotiations fell through, King and Mealor both exited the soap with her character taking a job in Europe and his following to live with her shortly afterward. Soap Opera Digest is reporting that the two actors will be reprising their roles this week, taping scenes to air over multiple episodes that are scheduled to air sometime in October.
King has been playing Nick and Phyllis’ daughter since 2012, although she has come and gone multiple times over the years (Bayley Corman did take over for some episodes in 2018 when King was busy shooting episodes of her primetime series LIFE IN PIECES). Mealor became the fourth adult actor to play Kyle Abbott when he joined the cast of Y&R in March 2018.
Summer was forced to take a job in Italy and leave Kyle behind but once the truth came out about how Tara and Sally schemed to get her out of town, he quickly decided to go join her overseas so they could finally be together. Phyllis was upset that her daughter had chosen to stay in Italy, but now it looks like they’re going to be making a visit! The pair had been planning to tie the knot before all the drama tore them apart, so perhaps we’re going to get their wedding? Or maybe they already got hitched in Italy and are going to honeymoon in Genoa City? (Although that seems very backward to us!)
Either way, fans can look forward to seeing King and Mealor back as Summer and Kyle in October. And hopefully, this leaves the door open for more visits to Y&R in the future!
