GENERAL HOSPITAL Casts Brook Kerr as a New Doctor
There’s a new doctor on call with Brook Kerr joining the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL! Although not much else has been revealed about her character, Entertainment Weekly was reporting that Kerr is scheduled to first appear in the episode airing on April 5. But that’s a Sunday and she’s actually making her debut in the March 5 episode. “And, the new adventure begins,” the actress posted to her Instagram. And she happened to use a hashtag revealing her character’s name, Dr. Portia Robinson.
Soap fans will recognize Kerr from her role of Whitney Russell Harris on the NBC sudser, PASSIONS. She played the character from the very first episode in 1999 right up until the second to last show in 2007. Kerr played Tarah Thornton in the original pilot for TRUE BLOOD, but was replaced with Rutina Wesley when it went to series. But viewers might have also seen Kerr in episodes of CSI: MIAMI, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, WESTWORLD, and HAWAII FIVE-0.
Some viewers are already speculating about who Kerr could be playing, some immediately believing she was a recast of Gia Campbell. However, that character left Port Charles to become a lawyer, not a doctor. But with the actress’ hashtag on her Instagram post indicating her name is Dr. Portia Robinson, it seems much more likely that those fans suspecting she’s Trina Robinson‘s mom are the ones who are right!
We’ll all find out exactly who Portia is when Kerr makes her debut in April, so stay tuned! And for more GH casting news, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
