Can Nina Keep “Eddie” Quiet on GENERAL HOSPITAL?
As the walls continue closing in on Nina on GENERAL HOSPITAL, can she find a way out of the mess she’s gotten herself into? She thought the secret that she’d turned Carly and Drew in to the SEC would be revealed when Ned overheard, but after he tripped and fell into the pool, he awoke believing himself to be his old alter ego, “Eddie Maine,” and with no memory of Nina’s actions.
With no memories of his family, either, “Eddie” wants nothing to do with the Quartermaines and decided to take Sonny up on his invitation to stay at his place. “What he doesn’t want to do is go back to Olivia and Tracy and this family that’s really coming on strong and pushing him away,” Wally Kurth (Ned) explained to Soap Opera Digest.
Olivia’s continued attempts to get her husband to remember his real life have only made things worse as she gets more upset about the situation and he insists there’s nothing he can do. “He doesn’t want to hurt her,” Kurth admitted. “He is empathetic to her. But he has no memory of her or of any of these people. He wants to keep his distance because he can’t commit to this role that they imagine him to be when he doesn’t want to be that guy.”
And while “Eddie” initial attempt to leave Port Charles and hit the road was interrupted and Sonny tried to keep him in town by offering to set him up with his connections in the music biz, Nina is also trying to influence his decision. Mostly so he’ll go away and so will any risk of him remembering the truth and exposing her actions!
“She seems to be understanding of Ned’s dilemma in a way that other people aren’t and he appreciates that,” Kurth mused. “He actually really likes her and trusts her because she’s not challenging him to remember things he doesn’t or telling him he needs to be someone he’s not.”
And while doing that with Sonny when he had amnesia and was living in Nixon Falls as Mike worked out pretty well for Nina even after he got his memory back, the same will likely not hold true when Ned remembers who he really is and what Nina really did. Can she find a way to keep him quiet?
