Rena Sofer Mourns the Loss of Her Beloved Dog, Princess Carolyn
It is hard to say goodbye to a precious family pet, so our hearts go out to former THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL star Rena Sofer (ex-Quinn) as she mourns the loss of her fur baby, Princess Carolyn. “It is with great sadness that my family has lost our beautiful Princess Carolyn,” the actress shared on Instagram. “She has crossed the rainbow bridge to be with our other lost loves, Lola and Iggy, a brother and sister who may not have known her but will be welcoming her with open paws.”
In her touching tribute to Princess Carolyn, Sofer explained that the family fostered the senior Chihuahua during the pandemic and went on to adopt her into their own menagerie of pets. “[We] gave her love and comfort and safety the last four years of her long life. She came from the streets and shelter life and deserved a beautiful home full of warmth and love and that is what she got,” wrote Sofer, who also played GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Lois. “Out of all our dogs, she was always everyone’s favorite.”
The sweet photo of Princess Carolyn (below) that accompanied Sofer’s post was the last one taken of the dog by the actress’ husband, film director Sanford Bookstaver. In his own tribute to the family’s beloved pet, Bookstaver called Princess Carolyn a “foster fail” and noted that they are all “so incredibly sad, but so happy that she was able to have a loving last four years of her life in our home with a family and a group of dogs that loved her so much as well.”
As Sofer’s Instagram followers know, her family frequently hosts dogs that are on their way to finding a furever home, and the canine-loving actress is an ardent advocate for fostering. “I cannot urge everyone enough to please foster and open your hearts and homes to a dog or animal in need,” she continued her post about Princess Carolyn. “The older ones are really the best because they just want a safe space to lay their heads and feel peace. Princess was such a gift to our family, and we hope we did her proud.
“Rest in peace, my beautiful girl,” Sofer concluded. “We love you so much.”
