Steve Burton Reacts to His Guest Spot on WHO’S THE BOSS?!
Fans may know that GENERAL HOSPITAL fan faves Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) form a team that goes by the nickname Stone Cold & the Jackal, and many probably also know that the pair have interviewed many of their co-stars and pals in videos posted to their YouTube channel. But did you know that the duo have also released a series of videos where they watch and react to old episodes of GH?
Well, one time, for a change of pace, Anderson decided to present an episode of WHO’S THE BOSS? from the sitcom’s 6th season which featured a guest appearance from none other than Burton! “I can’t remember exactly the scenes and stuff like that, but I know that I had a lot of neon on,” Burton admitted before they pressed play. “So I can’t wait to see this…”
The episode, titled “Her Father’s Daughter,” aired back on Feb. 6, 1990, and guest-starred Steve Burton as Tim, one of the boys that Alyssa Milano’s Sam meets while on winter break in Ft. Lauderdale. Of course, right off the bat, the actor can’t get over his appearance… and not just because he’s standing and delivering his dialogue with his arms crossed and his hands shoved deep in his armpits!
“So hey, teenage boys out there, don’t do this when you’re going out and trying to pick up a girl,” Burton laughed. “I don’t know what this move is. This was ‘I was very uncomfortable on TV move’ right here. But this hair! Can we talk about the hair? What is going on with this hair? Right now, I look like a combination of all three of my kids, and two of them are girls!” Also, the wardrobe… popped, so to speak! “Dude, stop,” Burton shouted, shaking his head. “Those shorts are just not good! I mean, that was MIAMI VICE time right there. That was… powder blue and hot pink shorts. Wow.”
Then, in the second video, the pair watched another scene from the episode where Tim and his buddy show up at Sam’s hotel room to surprise her and her friend with some “room service.” Of course, in addition to cringing at his sleazy character, the pair couldn’t help but once again take note of the very ‘90s fashions on parade.
“Okay, these were very expensive pants back then called Girbaud,” Burton chuckled defensively. “They were the thing. And there were 17 pleats on each side. I mean… first of all, why is my shirt buttoned to the top, anyway?” And it’s not even like the actor could blame the costume department! “This is my own wardrobe, by the way,” he added. “I remember those pants. They were my favorite.”
Still, as awkward as the hair and wardrobe were, Burton still remembers that early gig fondly. “It was fun,” he declared. “And Tony Danza was awesome. He directed that episode. I mean, he’s great at what he does. So all around, it was a great experience. It was so much fun.”
