Behind The Scenes of Cameron’s Head Shaving on GENERAL HOSPITAL!
By the end of the Feb. 22 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL, Cameron was sporting a new buzzed haircut. Whatever made the shaggy-haired teen dream shave his head? The severe haircut was a show of support for stepdad Franco, who has begun losing his hair as a result of the chemotherapy treatments he’s currently undergoing to battle a brain tumor. Cameron’s buzz also meant that his portrayer, William Lipton, needed to have his wavy locks sheared off in real life as well.
But Lipton didn’t just head to the local barber to get his head shaved. Nope. The whole thing was actually a heartwarming GH scene in which Cam turned to his besties, Eden McCoy’s Josslyn and Sydney Mikayla’s Trina, to cut his hair. In fact, McCoy had the honor of being the one to take the electric razor to Lipton’s head, admitting on Twitter that she was “terrified” to do so!
“I shaved him for a minute and then our brilliant GH hairstylists took over and did all the hard work,” McCoy tweeted, posting a behind-the-scenes video of the haircut. “There were lots of laughs, but the most amazing part by far was William. You killed it today, like always.” In the video, as McCoy held the razor, Lipton joked, “I’m just glad we have hair professionals on stand-by.”
After the scene aired, Lipton received a huge outpouring of support from viewers in response to the heartwarming scene. After all, Cameron and Franco’s relationship has come a long way from the days when the angry teen could barely stand to be in the same room with his mom’s new boyfriend. “So thankful for all your kind words of support and so grateful to be on this amazing show,” Lipton tweeted. “I am very touched by the stories that have been shared here on Twitter in connection to Franco’s battle with cancer. My heart goes out to you all.”
