GH’s Jonathan Jackson Shows Off His Wild New Look!

For his role in the upcoming family movie Unsung Hero, GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Jonathan Jackson is looking decidedly different than how soap fans might remember him from his days as Lucky! The Daytime Emmy winner is playing real-life Christian musician and producer Eddie DeGarmo in the musical drama, which has him wearing a wild, curly blond wig!

“My new film Unsung Hero is in theaters everywhere next month on April 26th!” Jackson shared on Instagram. “I’m honored to be part of such a meaningful film about the importance of family.”

The drama film is based on the real-life story of Christian musicians Rebecca St. James and her brothers, actors and singers Joel and Luke Smallbone of For KING + COUNTRY. In 1991, the Smallbone family left their home in Australia and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, after the collapse of patriarch David’s successful music company. As the family sets out to rebuild their lives and David struggles to provide for his family, mom Helen holds onto her strong faith, inspiring her husband and children to hold on to theirs.

Things for the family begin to turn around once Rebecca is signed by DeGarmo’s record label and becomes a popular Christian singer. “The only thing bigger than my character’s hair in Unsung Hero… is the heart in this movie,” Jackson joked on Instagram, sharing a photo from the film of him as DeGarmo, complete with 1980s rockstar hair!

His look was approved by Joel, who not only made his directorial debut in the film telling his family’s story but stepped into the role of his father. “Bold move with the hair, Jackson,” he commented. “And I love(d) it!”
