Kassie DePavia Opens up About Her Reunion With Roger Howarth at GH
For Kassie DePaiva, returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL as Blair was not only an opportunity to reconnect with the beloved character she began playing in 1993 but also a chance to reconnect with some of her ONE LIFE TO LIVE colleagues like executive producer Frank Valentini and director Gary Tomlin, who both previously worked on OLTL before GH.
“Seeing my OLTL peeps is like revisiting family,” DePavia enthused during an episode of Soap Opera Digest’s podcast, Dishing With Digest. “There is definitely an understanding and a connection that I can’t even explain. It’s amazing.”
Unfortunately, OLTL fans were not treated to any scenes between DePavia and her longtime OLTL co-star, Roger Howarth, who is now playing Austin on GH. However, the actors reconnected backstage during a break in taping.
“They take a 10:30 break for 15 minutes,” DePaiva explained. “I had been on set working. I was almost finished with my scenes with Jane [Elliot, Tracy]. He’s walking by and he looks over at me and I went and gave him a wave and he patted his heart and I patted mine. And so he went on his way to do his dry block and then he came over and we hugged”
Longtime OLTL fans may have been disappointed to learn Blair and Todd still haven’t gotten their happily ever after, and DePaiva feels their pain. “Because the last time that they saw these two people on canvas it was in a very sad goodbye on the Prospect Park reboot where he had to leave based on keeping the family safe,” she explained. “So I justified it like, ‘Okay, well, I’m going back to Port Charles and I am the ex-wife of someone.’
“‘So obviously Todd is presumed dead somewhere and I’ve just gone and hooked up with someone who has some money and, you know, doing what I gotta to do take care of myself,’” the actress added with a chuckle. “And the minute that Todd shows his face again, she’ll be back in his arms. That’s my fake reality.”
One that many OLTL fans share, we’re sure!
